January as a Sowing Season

I’m not one for grand New Year’s resolutions or the noise that usually accompanies new beginnings. To me, January is more like a sowing season—a quiet moment when you choose what you want to nurture in the months ahead. I believe that the way we step into the year subtly flows into everything that follows.

That is why this month is so important to me. And why, for years now, I have dedicated January at Galacta to female solidarity.

This isn’t just another charity drive; it’s a personal ritual. Every year, I direct a portion of my proceeds to organizations that care for women and mothers. In the past, this included the Autonomous Women’s House Zagreb and support for mothers in Gaza—as a reminder to the most vulnerable among us that they are not alone.

This Year: Roda

This January, I am dedicating our efforts to the association Roda.

They have been here for years, doing the work we too often take for granted. With a network of volunteers who selflessly help mothers in crisis, they fill that sensitive vacuum between pregnancy, childbirth, and the first days of parenthood. Their work on breastfeeding education and parental rights may not be "spectacular" for the headlines, but it changes lives at their core.

I know this firsthand. When I struggled with breastfeeding, Roda was my sanctuary. There was no judgment or pressure—only compassion and care. I received the support I so desperately needed and the reassurance that what I was going through was okay.

A Star as a Trace

Alongside the donation, there is a symbol that means a lot to me – the Star.

It isn’t a typical gift. It is a reminder of female strength and those invisible networks of support we weave for one another, even when we don’t know each other.

Throughout January, with every piece of jewelry ordered, you will receive a silver star charm with breast milk inclusion as a gift. I like to think of it as a small trace of this shared beginning—something we have sown together.
