About me

Hi! I am Ksenija Kordić, designer of Galacta jewelry. 

I am 44 years old and I have been doing art and creative work all my life. 

After the School of Applied Art and Design, I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. I have been a professional artist for many years and have exhibited since 1998. 

I also worked in big companies like Croatia Film, Nanobit, and Školska knjiga as an illustrator.

 About 10 years ago, I gave birth to my son Raven, which brought great changes to my life. Breastfeeding particularly impressed me as an emotional-physical experience that I had never felt before, and at the same ttime, I was delighted by the knowledge of the power and strength of my female body and her ability to produce something that is perfect food and love at the same time - milk. 

And since it was so, I wanted to preserve it in some way, and jewelry seemed to me the ideal medium for such a thing - a small intimate treasure that you carry close to your heart, and yet you can, if you want, proudly show it and tell others your story about the experience of motherhood. 

So I embarked on the adventure of making jewelry from breast milk and after I made the first pieces for myself and was delighted, I realized that I wanted to share it with other women and I have not regretted it because it is truly fulfilling and a great joy whenever I gain the trust of my clients. 

Breast milk jewelry is an ideal project for me because it contains everything I care about: empowering and celebrating mothers, a creative challenge, and the opportunity to create something beautiful and precious for other women... 

The idea and goal that motivates me for Galacta is to create durable, valuable, beautiful and high-quality jewelry, but which is also something more than jewelry - an ornament refined with an ingredient that binds us with a lot of emotions, so that its value far exceeds the material one.

Behind the name Galacta is two words gala and lac, which are the Greek and Latin names for milk. It is no coincidence that the word reminds us of the galaxy, because people have associated our galaxy and stars with milk for thousands of years and through almost all cultures, and you can read more about that in a separate post.

And on the business side, it's wonderful to do something useful for women, something that helps promote breastfeeding and can definitely be described as socially conscious entrepreneurship.

Also, the support of my husband Tomislav and his company AG media, who maintain this site and who do their best to give you the best user experience and security when purchasing, means a lot to me.
